Stardate 63372
The voyages of the USS Orion continue... After an extensive charting mission which took the ship to the outer reaches of Federation territory, the Orion is back at Starbase for some much needed maintenance and shore leave for the crew. The ship has performed exceptionally. As such, our layover at the Starbase will be brief, just time enough to dump the research into memory alpha and do some minor system upgrades. I've taken the time recently to bring myself up to speed on the goings on across the border in Romulan territory. It is regrettable that ambassador Spock was unable to prevent the destruction of Romulus. After all the hard work Will and the Titan put in, to have things crumble so quickly. It's also regrettable that the Federation has lost one of its prime ambassadors. Science teams are working on analyzing what happened and there is a temporary moratorium on red matter use. It is believed that a Romulan mining vessel was also lost however the data is still inconclusive.

I'm moving on to a new job. I wanted to mention that and that Scotty, James Doohan will be launched into space(his ashes) on December 6th so keep an eye out for that in the news.

I am busy lately with a couple Trek projects, one is a personal one and another is a very secret one so I can't say anything about it. I want to wish Trek a happy 39th birthday/anniversary. I hope I can say next year at this time that we're celebrating the 40th year with a new show or movie. Spock said, there are always possibilities.

I am amazed and thankfull to Apple and it's iTunes service for giving me the opportunity to get my modest blog out to its users. These log entries will be short and often but will basically be just what's on my mind as well as talking about what YOU give me feedback at thecaptainslog@gmail.com. Thanks for listening!

Stardate 59026 - Wow this is wierd. I haven't used this in so long I thought it was gone. I guess I have a chance to resurrect my old Captain's Log for the USS Orion. I have dropped the domain ussorion.com so don't go there anymore if you see links to it in here. Pretty much all the old stuff is gone. I have registered http://www.lcarsonline.net though and plan to set up a content management system on there. Maybe I should just point it here. I think I will do that for now. Anyhow ultimately LCARS Online I want to make a site dedicated to the immersive computing experience of the LCARS system from recent Star Trek series. I guess I will get to that when I can. For now I'm going to have fun audio blogging on this site and then I may comment on what I audio blogged in the entry. Technically this could become a podcast. I've always thought it would be fun to do a Captain's Log entry just like the historic Captains on the show. Now I CAN! ...and I will.

Stardate 55177.9
Thanks to the new home of The Captain's Gig, I have been able to create a simple, web enabled way of sending the latest Captain's Log entry to the crew so that they may read it in their inbox instead of having to come to the site to see it. I want to encourage those receiving that newsletter to stop in to the Captain's Gig at http://www.ussorion.com from time to time and see how things are doing. I am frequently available to chat about all things Star Trek in the COMM section of the website and there are various "cool" things relating to Star Trek that can be accessed from the site. I strive to make the USS Orion LCARS as real looking as possible. If you have any questions or comments on how I can improve, your email is always welcome at captain@ussorion.com. If you want to join the crew, email me at the previous address and ask to join the crew. I will add you to the list and you will be sent all log entrys. Likewise, if you are receiving the newsletter and wish to discontinue, email me and ask to be removed. I have always believed (as does my new web host) that SPAM and Ads only turn people off to the internet and that's why we are committed to bringing you what you want, no ads on the site and we won't send you unwanted email.

I have just transferred the gig to a new home thanks to our gracious friends at wiredbanana.com they have given us the capability to continue to have this site open and running and even to extend the capabilities of it. Thanks again to wiredbanana.com! The reason for this move is because for some time now, the gig has been hosted on my ISP's servers. I am switching ISPs and the new one doesn't offer web space. My friends at wiredbanana.com will be hosting this site until further notice. They will be offering hosting services in the near future to the public so keep an eye out for them.
